The aim of this media project is to defend human rights in the context of climate change by taking the example of the protection of trees and greenery. The team investigated the extent to which urban areas in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and  Kyrgyzstan become increasingly hot and polluted when trees are felled and the resulting effects on quality of life. With the help of activists, experts and volunteers the media project aims to raise awareness about the role of trees in shaping the urban microclimate and the effect of “living” trees on the economy and health. Through podcasts and video interviews, the participants talk about today’s “green heroes” and promote the theme of trees as “filters” of our planet through quizzes.

The work was carried out by journalist Dana Oparina (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), journalist Ellina Kim (Dushanbe, Tajikistan), and ecoactivist Oksana Polyakova (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan) and coordinated by Daria Khristolyubova from Asia-Plus (Dushanbe, Tajikistan).
